Payments as Debit Transaction- Accounting

Frequently Asked Accounting Questions:

A customer reaches out wondering about whether or not the credit card processing fee applies to debit cards. Can they use debit card instead of credit to get around the fee?

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. We are not able to run payments as a true debit transaction because that requires a PIN. We are not allowed, by law, to store anyone's PIN in our system (just like we don't store your password for PIC). Debit cards have Visa or MasterCard logos, so they are run like a credit card and would incur the 2% fee. The only way to avoid the fee would be to fill out the ACH information and send us the completed form, or you can call us and a member of the Pro Team will take the information from you over the phone. Please let us know if you need anything else.
