Cord Tensioner Installation - Rollease

About The Chain Tensioner:

  • Shades with clutch controls come with a continuous chain loop, which should always be kept under tension with the included chain tensioner.

  • The chain tensioner forms an important safety function by keeping chain loops away from small children. Never operate this shade without a functioning and correctly installed chain tensioner.

  • Chain tensioners come in a triangular shape and are attached to the chain loop.

Tools That May Be Required:  Pencil, Drill, Screw Driver

Note: For drywall (wallboard) or plaster, use anchors designed for hollow walls (not included). For concrete, stone, and brick, use a masonry drill bit and masonry anchors (not included).

Installing Triangular Chain Tensioner

  1. Slide the chain tensioner to the bottom of the bead chain. Hold the tensioner in one hand and pull the plunger away from the bead chain with the other hand. Lift the bead chain out of the bead locking groove to slide the tensioner to the bottom of the chain loop [Figure 2].

  2. Pull the tensioner down until the bead chain is fully tensioned (plunger will be at the top) and move the tension device up approximately 1/8”.

  3. Mark this position with a pencil.

  4. For inside mount, install the tensioner at the marked position.

  5. For outside mount, align the mounting bracket with the pencil mark to install [Figure 3].

Press the tension device onto the mounting bracket posts [Figure 4]. Carefully install the two small screws provided through the tension device into the mounting bracket using a Phillips head screwdriver. Do not over-tighten.
