Convention Discount Applied?- FAQ- Accounting

Frequently Asked Accounting Questions:

A customer has placed an order with Convention discount. They say it has not been applied. How can you tell from looking at the order?

Answer: Check the Convention Attendee list- did they go to convention?
You can go into the order – go into the summary – click on an item and you should see the convention discount.

Sometimes, the Convention Promo price rule that was originally programmed was expired/replaced so this is why you may not be seeing it, but it does not mean it did not apply to the order. Our normal list price does not include decimals, so if the order itself has a decimal, it is very likely a discount was applied.

To be sure- do the math. Find the retail total and then subtract the convention discount total. Then, multiply by their factor and add the handling charge. Check that subtotal is confirmed on line item.

Math Example: 703 (retail) + 52 (charger) + 219 (motor) = $974 - 97.40 (10% promo) = 876.60 x .3 (factor) = $262.98 + $3 (handling charge) = $265.98 which is what the order subtotal confirms on line 1.
