Fold Spacing / Panel Alignment
Fold Spacing: The spacing between each fold
Fold spacing for the ILU Fabric Roman Shades is different from ABS Fabric Roman Shades.
How do the factories differ?
ABS:
FRS bottom panel (or shade apron) size will depend on if the shade is Top Panel Aligned or Bottom Panel Aligned.
- Top panel aligned shades will have a shade apron (or bottom panel) that is between 4" and 7"
- Shades ordered with top panel alignment will have the top fold start 6" from the top of the shade with rings spaced 6" apart on the back of the shade. The bottom fold will start between 4" - 7" from the bottom of the shade.
- Top panel aligned shades will be made with the first row of rings and/or ribs sewn 6" fro the top of the shade.
- Bottom panel aligned shades will be made with the last row of rings and/or rib sewn at the seam of the 4" bottom hem
- Shades ordered with bottom panel alignment will have the first fold start at 4" above the bottom bar with rings spaced 6" apart on the back of the shade. The top fold will start between 4" - 9 7/8" from the top of the shade.

ILU:
FRS spacing between each fold is determined by the overall height of the shade and varies between 5” to 7”.
- Spacing is "balanced" based on the ordered height of the shade.
- For fold/pleats to align, shades myst be ordered with the exact same height.
- The bottom panel will always be 1/2 the spacing of the shade folds. The top panel varies based on the length of the shade between 7 3/4” and 9 3/4”.
- If ordering multiple shades to be installed side-by-side and panel alignment is desired, all shades must be ordered at the exact same height to ensure consistent folds. Shades of different heights will have different fold spacing and will not align with each other.

For ABS FRS: When do I order Top Alignment? Bottom?
Top Panel Alignment:
We recommend ordering top panel aligned shades for most installations:
- Shades that are the same height in side-by-side windows.
- Shades that are different heights in side-by-side windows where the tops of the windows align.
- Shades that are not installed side-by-side
Bottom Panel Alignment:
We recommend ordering bottom panel aligned shades for:
- Shades that are differing heights in side-by-side windows where the bottom of the windows align.
- For bottom panel aligned installations where uneven top folds are a concer, we recommend ordering standard shades or waterfall shades with a front valance.
