Are the panels installed correctly? - RS/NRS/NS SP - FAQ

Frequently Asked Absolute Sliding Panel Question:

QUESTION:

The panels are not operating smoothly. Are they installed correctly?

EXPLANATION:

There is a right and wrong way to install the panels/top rails onto the gliders for the Absolute Sliding Panel System. If the panels are not fully seated, they can fall off or rub each other which may lead to panel damage.

Refer to the attached image to see the difference between correctly and incorrectly seated top rails. Please note the example image is of a RS Absolute Sliding Panel.

See the attached video on How to Install the Top Rail to Glider. Please note the example image is of a NS Absolute Sliding Panel, but the installation is the same as RS and NS.

PROPOSED RESPONSE:

Diagnosing this issue is fairly quick and easy! Please start by stacking all panels back and look at the panels from a side view. If any of the panels look to be hanging at an angle, it is most likely caused by the top rail not being seated on the glider correctly. If this is the case, please complete the following steps:

  1. Identify which panel or panels are hanging at an angle.
  2. Uninstall the panel
  3. Reinstall the panel by following the steps below
    • slightly tilt the top of top rail toward you
    • seat the glider into the slot of the bottom of the top rail
    • once seated gently push the top rail up and tilt the top of the top rail back and gently pull down to secure.

If the customer is working with a natural sliding panel, and confirms the panels are installed correctly (not at an angle) then please refer to the article
