During the Beta test period we ask that cornice orders are placed within the specifications noted in the Product Guide. We will monitor requests as they are received, and include new options and improvements for the full launch.

FAQ's

Q: Why is the fabric, tape and trim material reference table not in the Cornice Product Guide?

A: The Cornices will be included in the full product guide when the product is fully launched, for now, during the beta testing the cornice specifications are being kept separate.

Q: Are all fabrics available to be made as cornices?

A: No, only non sheer fabrics.

Q: What is the production time:

A: The beta launch is starting with a production time of 6 weeks. We expect this will be reduced as we make more orders.

Q: Why cant we make cornices longer than 24" or wider than 92"

A: Cornices cannot be made longer than 24" or wider than 92" due to our shipping restrictions. We are working on a hinged cornice option that will allow us to make cornices that are wider and longer. This will be available by the time the program fully launches.

Q: How will cornices be packaged and shipped?
A: Cornices are shipped directly from Pro Design Production, via FedEx boxes. Cornices will not be crated.

Q: A customer is adamant about an out of spec, who should you reach out to?

A: Please reach out to Rebekah or Emma L. Please include the customer and order details. 

Q: Can a customer order tapes and trims with contrasting welt?

A: Yes.

Q: Why are contrasting welts so expensive? (other vendors do not charge for this)

A: We cut welt on the fabric bias which leads to more scrap. We have this cost built into our surcharge. For any concerns on pricing, these should be communicated to Rebekah for evaluation on the full launch. Generally, our cornice program is priced higher than other vendors, so we are curious to hear the feedback. 

Q: What is a fabric bias?

A: Cutting across the fabric in a diagonal direction across the weave. This gives the fabric more stretch and flexibility 

Q: Can a customer order tape on the TOP of the cornice?

A: No, tape is only available as bottom placement at this time.  

Q: Is tape available as edge placement? 

A: No, tape is currently only available as 1" inset.

Q: Are all fabrics available as contrasting welt?

A: No, only non-sheer fabrics are available for contrasting welt.

Q: Are trims available as hidden and visible braid? 

A: TBD

Q: Can a customer order cord trim with a welt?

A: Cord trim will be the same visual concept as ordering a welt, only thicker. If the customer wants cord trim, they should not order welt.

Q: When will Non BB customer have access to cornices?

A: Arcadia ST Cornice product has a tentative launch date of early 2027. 

Q: What kind of brackets, and how many bracket sizes are available?

A: Standard L brackets, in 3 sizes:

1 1/2" x 1 1/2", 3" x 3",  5" x 5"

The size of bracket is based off the return size.

Q: Is the height of the cornice also interior opening?

A: No, the height is outside dimensions. Only the width equals the interior opening size.

Q: What size batting is used?

A: 3/8" 

Best Practices

• 1/5 or 1/6 the height of the mounting area. 
• If mounting over draperies, consider the full height of the draperies for this proportion 
• If mounting over a roman shade in a window only or just mounting over a window with no other treatment, measure from the floor to the top of the window and use the 1/5 or 1/6 proportion. 

• 3” - 4” of the cornice should come down over the window so you don’t see the upper casing. 

• If you are not mounting over anything, 3.5” depth is common. This allows enough space to get the drill bit up under the cornice to install. 
• If you are mounting over something, 6.5” would be common for a single shade or single drapery using 3.5” brackets. 9.5” would be common for anything requiring more depth than that.
• We allow custom sized returns from 2” to 9.5”, but is sounds like the 3.5”, 6.5”, and 9.5” will be the most common.
