Set Screws - GENERAL FAQ

Factory Usage of Set Screws:

What is a set screw?

Set screws are small screws that the factory may use to keep the motor in place during shipping to reduce any risk of damage. The position of the set screw is typically at the length of the motor, inserted into the idle end crown of the motor - this depends on the motor used as different motors are different lengths.

Is the set screw the same for all factories and products?

No, please read below to learn how each factory uses set screws:

SLN, SB, YX: Woven Roman Shades

No set screws!

The only screws that are used on the tube are the small screws that keep the lift cord spool in place. Sometimes, this screw can penetrate the tube a bit to far and if located between the end of the motor in the tube, and the motor head, it may make removing the motor a bit challenging. If this is the case, please ask the customer to carefully loosen the spool screw that is closest to the motor head and attempt motor removal again.

YX: Natural Roller Shades

No set screws

ABS: Roller Shades and Fabric Roman Shades

Yes, this factory uses set screws but only in certain cases.

All open roll roller shades (no matter the motor type - spear & c-clip) include a set screw*

All RS in cassette and FRS made with c-clip style motor require a set screw* (c-clip motors: SHC, SHC DC, DM25CE, DM25TE)

All RS in cassette and FRS made with spear motor do not require set screw to set screws.

*If there is a set screw, it will be placed at the crown of the motor, so the placement will depend on the length of the motor.
