Frequently Asked Roller Shade Questions:

I’d like to swap my roller shade motor or clutch to the other side. How do I do that?

Answer: Look at the order details! Confirm the shade style: open roll/cassette, clutch/motor and order date for motorized!

Please COPY AND PASTE which ever set of directions you need to share.

CLUTCH Open Roll:

Start with the shade fully raised
Uninstall the cord tensioner, then uninstall shade from installation brackets
Uninstall installation brackets, and reinstall on opposite sides
Remove idle end and clutch from the tube - swap to opposite sides
Reinstall the shade into the installation brackets and reinstall the cord tensioner

MOTOR Open Roll:

Start with the shade fully raised
Uninstall the shade from the installation brackets
Uninstall installation brackets, and reinstall on opposite sides
Remove idle end and motor from the tube - swap to opposite sides
Reinstall shade into the installation brackets. IMPORTANT: When reinstalling the motor on the new side ensure that the charging port is facing down for easy access to charging (port should be facing down toward the ground once unit is reinstalled)
Test the motor roll directions, reset the motor, upper and lower limit if needed.

MOTORIZED Round Cassette: (WHAT IS THE ORDER DATE?!)

For motorized shades ordered BEFORE 8/21/24 (plunger style idle end)

Start with the shade fully raised
Uninstall the shade from the installation brackets
Remove cassette end caps and remove the shade from the internal brackets
Swap internal brackets to opposite sides
Remove idle end and motor from the tube - swap to opposite sides
IMPORTANT: When reinstalling the motor on the new side ensure that the charging port is facing opposite of the top of the cassette for easy access to charging (port should be facing down toward the ground once unit is reinstalled)
Reinstall the shade in cassette, reinstall the end cap then reinstall cassette in the installation brackets
Test the motor roll directions, reset the motor, upper and lower limit if needed.

For motorized shades ordered AFTER 8/21/24

Start with the shade fully raised
Uninstall the shade from the installation brackets
Remove the cassette end cap from the control side, remove internal bracket from cassette and motor head, slide the idle end side off the bracket tab. NOTE: You do not need to swap the internal brackets to opposite sides!
Remove the idle end and motor from the tube - swap to opposite sides
IMPORTANT: When reinstalling the motor on the new side ensure that the charging port is facing opposite of the top of the cassette for easy access to charging (port should be facing down toward the ground once unit is reinstalled)
Reinstall the shade in cassette, reinstall the end cap then reinstall cassette in the installation brackets
Test the motor roll directions, reset the motor, upper and lower limit if needed.

CLUTCH Round Cassette:

Uninstall the cord tensioner, then uninstall the shade from the installation brackets
Remove cassette end caps, remove shade from internal brackets
Swap internal cassette brackets to opposite sides
Remove clutch and idle end from tube - swap to opposite sides
Reinstall shade into the internal cassette brackets
Install cassette into installation brackets
Reinstall cord tensioner

Square Cassette: Square Cassettes have a notch on the control side - remake the cassette only! The shade does not need to be remade.

If shade is clutch square cassette - remake cassette, then following Clutch Round Cassette steps.

If shade is motor square cassette - remake cassette, then following Motorized Round Cassette steps (order date!)
