Motorized Squeak- FAQ- ABS RS

Frequently Asked Roller Shade Questions:

An installer has installed a motorized roller shade and there is a squeaking noise when it raises and lowers. What would you recommend the installer do?

To find the root of the problem, determine the following details:
Is it a roller shade?
Is it open roll?(Open roll tends to be more of an issue).
Or is it in a cassette?

        If in a cassette, is it inside mount?
How wide is it? (It is usually the really wide shades that have issues)

If open roll:

We check the idle end is not too tight and possibly change out the idle end. The majority of the time it is the idle end causing the noise.

All open roll roller shades require a set screw. Unroll the shade to expose the tube and remove the set screw. The set screw is not required after shipping.

If cassette::

Inside mount: The shade may be too tight within the window frame, causing pressure on the brackets.

Outside mount: Did they use all the brackets?
