Why should I use a bonded liner?

Liners play a key role in controlling light and privacy. Liner options include unlined, standard light-filtering, bonded light-filtering, standard black-out, and bonded black-out.

Unlined: is available for sheer fabrics only and can be ordered with flat or knife pleat panel style.

-Unlined Shades use a clear rib pocket on the back of the shade

-Unlined Shades have a horizontal stitch to hold the rib pocket in place across the front of the shade.

Light-Filtering Liners: Are available for all fabrics and provide added privacy while gently diffusing light.

Black-Out Liners: Block light from passing through the fabric. Black-out liners are not available with sheer fabrics.

Bonded Liners: are an upgraded option for both light-filtering and black-out styles. With a soft backing, bonded liners add body and structure to the shade, along with some thermal benefits. Bonded liners are not available with sheer fabrics.

NOT YET AVAILABLE: Interlining Liners: Similar to Bonded Liners, except the soft lining is NOT attached to the standard liner.

The bonded liners have a standard liner and soft lining attached to each other, acting as a single liner.

Interlining Liners have the standard liner and soft lining separated from each other.

You would want to choose a bonded liner over a standard liner when you have not selected a sheer fabric, and you are looking for an upgraded liner option. The bonded liners have a soft backing and add body and structure to the shade, while reducing the amount of light that enters the room. It also has some thermal benefits as the extra layer of fabric acts as an additional barrier, trapping air and helping regulate the room's temperature.

The soft part of the lining is facing the face of the shade. It will not face the window, as there could be condensation.

We do not have R values for the bonded liners. There is no specification of how much energy you will save, no tax form qualifications etc.
