Frequently Asked Roller Shade Question:
QUESTION:
How do you order a custom panel width?
EXPLANATION:
A custom panel width means that the shade fabric panel needs to be narrower than the ordered width after factory deductions. This is often used to clear an obstruction like a door handle, counter top, tile cut out, etc.
Keep in mind that any top treatments will be made to the ordered width, while the panel itself is made to the custom width.
Standard Factory Deductions (Reminder):
Roller shade panels are not made to the full order width, but are reduced slightly to fit components. Control type, mount type, and top treatments will all change how much of the total ordered width will be deducted by default. Before changing the custom panel width, make sure to account for this deduction.
While the deduction numbers by spec can be found in the relevant product guides, PIC also defaults the "Custom Panel Width" field to account for these deductions.
Note that Bottom Bar End Caps are 1/8" (1/16" each side). There is an option to account for this in the drop down option when ordering.

Example 1:
Order: 24", exact lift, outside mount, small cassette
Request: Customer wants a 2 1/8" deduction, including end caps, on the right side of the shade
When entered into PIC, the prompt field defaults to a 1 1/8" deduction
24" (order width) minus 1 1/8" (factory deductions) minus 2 1/8" (custom request) = 20 3/4" final width.

Because this order is not center on the roll, the alignment should be specified in the general comments.
Example 2:
Order: 24", clutch, inside mount, large cassette
Request: Customer wants a 2 1/8" deduction, ignoring end caps, on EACH side of the shade
When entered into PIC, the prompt field defaults to a 1 1/2" deduction.
24" (order width) minus 1 1/2" (factory deductions) minus 2 1/8" (left deduction) minus 2 1/8" (right deduction) = 18 1/4"
