Frequently Asked Outdoor Shade Question:
QUESTION:
My Outdoor shade shows some sort of waves or distorted pattern throughout the shade.

EXPLANATION:
This is known as the Moire Effect, which is most common in fabrics with a looser weave. Because the Outdoor Shade is a solar fabric, the openness percentage can also contribute to the appearance of the shade. Additionally, obstructions such as insect screens may create overlapping patterns with the fabric, resulting in the appearance being observed.
Choosing a fabric that has a lighter color, a lower open rate, such as 1%, and the distance the shade is installed from an obstruction will help lessen the chance of the effect.
Please see the attachment for reference.
PROPOSED RESPONSE:
The shade is experiencing the Moire Effect, which is most common with fabrics that have a looser weave or when there is an additional screen or mesh behind the shade. To help minimize this effect, it is recommended to remake the shade using a lighter colored fabric, select a lower openness (such as 1%), or reposition the shade to create additional distance between the shade and the screen.
