Frequently Asked Natural Shade Questions:
Why can a customer not have an inside mount, TDBU woven wood shade with valance returns?
Answer:
Effective July 1, 2025, Inside Mount Top-Down Bottom-Up shades will no longer be available to order with returns.
This update is being made to help avoid the larger light gaps that can occur on either side of the shade when returns are used for an inside mount.
If returns are needed for an inside mount Top-Down Bottom-Up shade, please order it as outside mount with returns and subtract 1" from the overall width to allow for a 1/2" deduction on each side of the shade.
Basically, what you are doing is taking the deduction for the factory since they do not take any deductions on OB shades. However, ordering the shades this way will cause a slightly larger light gap.

Customer sends photos of IB TDBU shade they are unhappy with:
PD Response: These are inside mount TDBU shades. We do not recommend using returns on these shades because the factory cannot make the needed extra deduction off the headrail, so the returns tuck back into the window frame. The TD bar hits the returns as it is because it is the same width as the headrail, and it would be even worse if they took the same deduction from the headrail that they do for regular BU shades. This is why we do not mention returns in the Product Guide for IB TDBU, and it is not available for ordering anymore. When the TDBU shade is outside mount like the last photo, the valance is made 3/4" wider than the headrail for the return to tuck back.
