Repair Instructions:
Replacing A Cord/Chain Loop on a Dual Sheer Shade
Replacing a continuous cord or chain loop on a dual sheer shade can be done by following the steps below.
Please note needle-nose pliers, a Phillips head screwdriver and a pointed tool are recommended.Step 1: Raise the shade fully and remove the control side end cap and cassette bracket
- Raise the shade completely and remove the end cap from the cassette on the control side.
- Once the end cap has been removed, use a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the interior control-side bracket, exposing the clutch. The shade and tube need to stay in the cassette, because one end of the fabric is attached to the cassette itself.
Please do NOT attempt to pull the shade and tube fully out of the cassette.

Step 2: Remove clutch from tube and carefully take clutch casing apart
- Pull the clutch out of the shade tube.
- Use the pliers to press the two prongs in the center of the clutch together and pull off the casing [Figure 2]. This will expose the internal springs, and enable the separation of the clutch, barrel and chain guide.
Be mindful that the barrel is lightly greased to enable the springs to operate smoothly. Keep all parts away from shade fabric.

Step 3: Remove old cord/chain
- Lift the white clutch gear up and out of the clear chain guide to remove the old cord/chain.

Step 4: Install new cord or chain
- Wrap the new cord / chain snuggly around the white gear, into the channel.
- Feed the free end of the CCL through the clear chain guide.
- Reinsert the gear into the chain guide.

Step 5: Replace the clutch casing and barrel
- Replace the clutch casing and barrel by inserting the barrel through the back of the chain guide, into the white gear face.
- On top of the barrel, line up the channel on the casing with the springs, and press firmly down on the clutch casing, snapping it into place.

Step 6: Reinstall the clutch
- Reinstall the clutch into the shade tube by sliding it into place.
- The channels of the clutch and the tube must align in order for the clutch to fit into place.

Step 7: Reinstall the clutch
- Reinstall your control-side bracket by sliding the metal bracket’s shelf into the clutch as well as the foot of the bracket into the slot in the cassette.
- Reinstall the end cap and install your shade into the cassette brackets.
Step 8: Reinstall chain tensioner
- Select the right location. The chain tensioner should be installed to a flat surface, so the bead chain is taut but not stretched.
Be sure to not to twist or cross the chain. - Mark the desired location of the screw holes for the tensioner with a pencil and drill pilot holes for the screws.
- If the tensioner is not already installed, thread the chain through the open slot in the tensioner so the tensioner can be fully compressed around the chain.
- Use the provided screws to install the chain tensioner. Ensure that it is fully compressed so that the springs are pushed in and the chain passes smoothly through the guide hole.

The chain tensioner forms an important safety function by keeping chain loops away from small children.
Never operate this shade without a functioning and correctly installed chain tensioner.
