Frequently Asked Motorization Question:
I ordered 10 shades 7 years ago, but now 7 out of 10 will not hold a charge. 2 hold a charge for a day or two, but work best when continually plugged in. My client is displeased that they are all failing. What can we offer her in replacing her motors, chargers and remote?
Answer: Focus on the benefits, not just the "end of life". Frame the discussion around advantages of newer technology - improved performance, features etc. They will not only be replacing, but upgrading.
Then, explain technology's natural lifecycle. Use simple, non-technical language and explain that technology evolves, just like many other products that need periodic upgrades or replacements (cars, fridges, appliances etc.). Be transparent about obsolescence and explain how software updates, hardware advancements etc. can eventually make older technology less functional.
Example Phrases:
"The technology has been in use for a while. However, like other technologies, it has a natural lifespan and is nearing its end-of-life."
"Support is available throughout this process, with various options to make the transition as smooth as possible."
