How much Privacy Channel does a customer need?

If a customer calls asking for privacy channels for an order they already received but forgot to order it, here is an equation to help you figure out how much to put in a parts request.

Looking at the SO, you want to pay attention to the qty ordered, order width, order height and cassette color (if the customer doesn’t know what color to get, matching this is a good idea). The customer will need the following:

  • Add one inch to each measurement. If it is not an even number, round up to the next number. So in this case, this one will be 42” for width and 69” for height.

  • Multiply the order width by two. (42 x 2 = 84”)
    • They will need two L-shaped sticks at 42” to make the U channel

  • Multiply the order height by four (69 x 4 = 276”)
    • They will need four L-shaped sticks at 69” to make the U channel for both sides.

  • Add together the totals for the width and height. (84 + 276 = 360”)
    • This is the total length of sticks they will need to complete this window.
    • If the line has multiple qty, you will multiply this new total by the qty.
      • Example: qty 2 would be 360 x 2 = 720”

For parts requests, there are two options for the stick length, 94” and 48”. Keep in mind that when you enter the qty, we send two times the qty. So, qty 1 = 2 sticks, qty 2 = 4 sticks, and so on. This is so they can make one full U channel with a qty 1.

For the order above, the customer needs 360” total.

  • 360” divided by 94” is 3.8 sticks total.  We would send 4.  On the parts request, you would enter qty 2 for 94” and we will multiply it by 2 and send 4 sticks.

If the customer wanted 48” sticks for some reason, the same equation applies.

  • 360” divided by 48” is 7.5 sticks. We would send 8. On the parts request, you would enter qty 4 for 48” and we will multiply it by 2 and send 8.
